Initially, Amy began with a recipe, her home oven and a few ideas. Using her B.S. degree in Biology and her knowledge as a vegetarian, Amy developed the human-grade treats for dogs using a unique soft baked recipe (Wheat, Corn & Soy Free) and strict quality control procedures. only tasty for dogs, but also highly beneficial.

In 2007, the company launched it's most successful product Pup-PIE's for dogs, themed 10 slice pies topped with freeze-dried fruits and vegetables. The success of this new product allowed her husband Keith to leave his career with the H.J. Heinz Company after 11 years to help grow the company.

Lazy Dog is now located in a 13,000 square foot facility in Ballston Spa, New York and their treats are being gobbled up by dogs around the world. It’s a well-known fact that our four footed family members require a lot of snooze time, but did you know that they average 18 hours a day? If your dogs are anything like ours this shouldn’t be too surprising, but what is surprising is the quality of some of the food and treats available for our canine companions. Lazy Dog believes your dog deserves better. Using only simple beneficial ingredients that are not only viciously delicious, but also naturally nutritious our products "lick" the competition. Our treats are wheat and corn free with soy and grain free offerings. We never use any fillers, preservatives or anything artificial. Health benefits paired with unique recipes makes them irresistible. Compassion for all animals runs deep so our products are vegetarian and vegan. When it comes right down to it they're just good wholesome treats you can feel good about giving your dog.Only one short year after relocating to Saratoga Springs, NY Keith and I decided to take a leap of faith and focus both our efforts on Lazy Dog. Keith went ahead and resigned his Corporate Sales position with Heinz Ketchup to join me full time. I have to say our family and friends thought we were crazy. Leaving your job to sell dog treats who ever heard of such a thing. We went ahead with our plan and after one year we moved out of the garage into our first real bakery in Ballston Spa, NY. Around the same time a local business owner introduced us to the Saratoga Bridges organization. Saratoga Bridges is the area’s premier community resource for people with disabilities and their families. We started sending small projects to the Saratoga Bridges workshop but had no idea how this relationship would develop.
