Padding - for some of the harnesses we use natural felt padding. Should you look for this option? For tracking dog harness and training dog harness you definitely should. When else? Well, it is also nice to add some extra comfort to your dog's life. Padded dog harness will always cost more, but you might find that price difference is not so big, especially since you invest in dog harness for many years of use.
Photo provided by Flickr I need a harness for big rescue and old dogs that have neck injuries and do NOT pull. I don't need it to clip underneath but would like it to close and have the clip on the top. I also need it to be easy to put on preferably where they do not have to lift a leg to get into it. Some of them don't have the balance and strength to stand on three legs, even for a short time.

Big Dog Soft Reflective No Pull Harness is strong, durable and makes walking your dog effortless. The easy grab handle gives you great control over your dog, while the durable shell has a padded and lined interior that gives your dog greater comfort. The fit of the harness can be adjusted according to your dog’s size so you don’t have to make him uncomfortable. The 1" wide webbing is better proportioned for big shouldered, wide-framed dogs. It is also better for high energy, reactive big dogs.X-Small and Mini harnesses are designed to be used with light weight leashes/snaps (7/16" or 3/8" wide). Retractable leashes are not recommended. Before ordering, please for a proper fit.If the measurement falls within two harnesses, we suggest the larger size. Example: 20" girth = Small size Darwin is a Beagle-Shar Pei mix, built with a big chest, long body and neck and VERY loose skin. In short, she is perfect. She likes to race around on a long training lead and has, on a few occasions, simply slid out of her collar. Yes, she sometimes stops suddenly and goes backwards, right out of her collar. An extremely tight fit is not an option. We tried various harnesses at the pet stores and, while they were adequate, they tended to bind up behind her forelegs and stayed too loose in front. So far, this harness goes on easily, doesn't bind, fits well and doesn't come off when she changes directions (she thinks she can catch hawks and turkey vultures wheeling overhead). She can't chew on it while it's on because the fit is flat and smooth. This is an excellent harness for my dog.Walking Leash/Shoulder Strap: The Help ‘Em Up Harness Walking Leash/Shoulder Straps come in two sizes: medium/large and extra-large to accompany dogs using the medium, large and extra-large Help ‘Em Up Harness. The Walking Leash is adjustable and is used for walking, but also doubles as a shoulder strap for extra leverage when lifting and/or walking with bigger dogs. The Walking Leash/Shoulder strap is recommended for dogs using the Medium, Large, or X- Large Help ‘Em Up Harness; choose the leash size based on the size of your harness: M/L for medium and large harnesses, and XL leash for the XL harness or if you like having the extra strap for a large harness. For small dogs, we recommend using the walking handle.Dog harnesses can be a great alternative to attaching a leash to a regular collar on walks, runs, or bike rides. This is especially true for dogs that are big-time pullers. Constant pulling can put too much tension on the neck area of your dog and over time can even lead to injury. This is not just a problem for big dogs, but also medium and small dogs as well. If you decide to try a harness for your dog it important to find a one that is comfortable for them and won't hinder their mobility. A major complaint that we hear from people that have used standard dog harnesses that can be bought from the chain stores is that they cause rubbing and chaffing on the chest area, armpit area, or belly of their dog. This is why padded dog harnesses were created. A good padded dog harness will distribute your dog's pulling across the body and will be comfortable for them to wear. I have done my best to find the best padded dog harnesses out there - ones that include padding on the chest and padding on the strap area. The padded harnesses above have padding in key areas that are likely to rub your dog. One area that tends to be a problem with rubbing for many dogs is the armpit area just behind the legs. While this can be an issue with sizing, it is often because the straps of most dog harnesses do not have padding on the strap that goes behind the front legs. This causes rubbing and chafing and can obviously be irritating for your dog. Most of the harnesses we carry have padding built-in, but we also offer comfortable fleece harness strap covers made from the softest polar fleece available. These add comfort to any dog harness and come in a range of sizes for small, medium or large dogs. Of all the harnesses we carry, the RuffWear webmaster harness and the ComfortFlex Sport harness have some of the best padding and feedback from customers over time. Padding is on the chest area and padding on the belly straps. The EzyDog harness has a unique design made to conform to your dog's chest with comfortable padded material. The entire chest area has a specialized rubber foam padding. The ComfortFlex is unique in that the entire harness has light padding on it. It is the fastest harness to get on and off your dog. Please email us if you have any questions about which padded dog harness would be best for your specific dog.The harness straps are available in three different widths, from 15 millimeters (a smidge more than half an inch) to 40 millimeters (a little more than 11/2 inches) wide. The bigger the dog you are fitting, the wider the straps you will select. All three pieces that you select for your dog’s harness must be the same width. The top piece is easy to differentiate from the chest piece, as the top is always the colored one. (The black top piece has reflective stitching, so it can’t be confused with a black front piece.)
